The division served minimally in Poland and France and then engaged in the siege of Leningrad. The division was destroyed in Kiev, Ukraine, in 1944. Original German army Soldbuch to Grenadier Franz Hermmanns of Grenadier Ersatz Battalion 468 attached to the 363 Volks Grenadier Division. Hermmanns Unit served in the Netherlands suffering heavy casualties at Nijmegen. After the unit was refitted the division fought around the Roer river before being destroyed at the Ruhr pocket in April 1945.
